Serena Millsap Cherubin

Serena Millsap Cherubin, 53, of Baytown, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Serena was born on August 26, 1972, in Berange Laborie, St. Lucia, to her beloved mother, Margrete Cherubin (T’Sas), and her father, Jn’ Baptiste Cherubin aka, (“Note”), who preceded her in death. She is preceded in death by her brother, Michael Cherubin; godson, Lebert Louis; aunties, Laurance Joseph and Catherine Monero; uncles, Felix and Mathew Nole and Mark Lafontaine; nephew, Viclann Joseph, aka (“Gollet”). She was known to many as “Eein” a name spoken with love by those closest to her. Serena had a warm and welcoming spirit that drew people to her. She had a special way of making everyone feel like family, and being in her presence brought comfort, joy, and laughter. Serena had a vibrant personality and a love for life. She loved the color red, which reflected her bold and loving spirit. She enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys, cheering on Serena Williams in tennis, dancing, listening to country and western music, traveling, and especially going on cruises. Her favorite saying, “I’m Good,” reflected the way she embraced each day—with love, strength, and purpose. Serena’s faith was the foundation of her life. She often said, “God is good” and “God is able,” words she truly lived by. Her favorite song, “Jesus Take the Wheel” by Carrie Underwood, reflected her faith and trust in God throughout life’s journey. Her unwavering belief in God gave her strength, and she remained a fighter until the very end. She attended a Bible-based church and remained spiritually connected, even when worshiping from home. Serena cherished her family deeply and found her greatest happiness in spending time with them. She loved cooking and sharing meals, especially her beloved cocoa tea and dumplings, often calling loved ones to enjoy them together. Sundays were special to her, filled with family time, laughter, and togetherness. Her true calling was caring for others. Serena’s passion for nursing began in Laborie, St. Lucia, where she started her career at the Laborie Health Center before later migrating to Texas to continue her calling in 1996. She was also connected to her educational and community roots through San Jacinto College, Lee College, Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary School (Class of ’89), Laborie Girls Primary, and Banse La Grace Combine. Serena had a deep passion for nursing and worked as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), where she devoted her life to helping people—especially the elderly, whom she loved dearly. She worked at St. James Nursing Home and previously at Allenbrook in Baytown, TX, where she became known for her compassion, dedication, and tireless work ethic. She worked long hours without complaint, always showing up with love and commitment. To many, Serena was more than a nurse—she was a trusted leader whom others relied on and respected. Her Coworkers: Dr. Was, Dr. Wasserstein, Jackie, Judy, Flora, Jennifer (MD Anderson), and Annette. Serena’s love, laughter, and nurturing spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her legacy is one of kindness, strength, and devotion to family. She lived fully, loved deeply, and reminded us all that we truly have “one life to live.” Visitation will be held at Going Home Funeral Home on Friday, March 27, from 6:30–8:30 p.m., and Unity Baptist Church on March 28, from 10-11 a.m. Service will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Unity Baptist Church in Baytown.
